Indeed you can Jamie, and I do agree that if you are starting out on a fresh deployment, Flex Profiles is the way to go. But whilst it’s a fantastic profile management mechanism, Flex Profiles isn't the solution for every deployment. It requires a lot of work up font, and you need to be confident that the customer has the skills to maintain it moving forward. This particular solution was simply implemented to clean up the mess that another Integrator implemented, something I wrote about here: http://www.jhouseconsulting.com/index.php/blog/2008/10/21/how-to-pick-a-good-consultantintegrator-to-partner-with/ . There was no time allowed for to revisit and implement Flex Profiles. However, the solution documented above will work in any environment, and requires little profile management skills to implement.
Cheers,
Jeremy.

Hi Jeff,

Read point 2 again. "...the system continues to be protected by the underlying Auto-Protect capability of RTVScan.exe, which runs as a service..." So you're not exposing your systems by remving ccapp.exe. You could indeed run a nightly scan at say 2 or 3am, if you wished.

Cheers,
Jeremy.

If you remove the ccapp.exe then what do you do for terminal servers running sysmantec antivirus? Do you just run scheduled scans more frequently instead of auto protect? I have antivirus corporate version 10.1 and would like ccapp.exe to stop running on my citrix servers for all sessions, but I am afraid of exposing them without the auto protect.

Thanks,
Jeff

[...] Don’t use the wallpaper to display messages to the users. You are better off using a Message Of The Day banner. [...]
